DESCRIPTION:Course Code: D2012G \nThis 3 week university course at Stockholm Dance and Circus University gives 4\,5 ECTS credits. \nSpecial Skype lectures were given by: \n\nTeller\nJim Steinmeyer\nWill Houstoun\n\nThree weeks fulltime\, June 8-30. Like any other university course\, is free of charge for EU citizens. Non-EU citizens are also welcome\, but unfortunately not free but to a cost of 36000 SEK (about 4000 USD). \nDepending on your nationality and your government’s approach to education you might be eligible for student loans or grants. \nJohan Ståhl and Tom Stone are the main facilitators. \nThe main topics are misdirection and dramatic structures. It will draw heavily on the participants’ own experiences. The study model is very hands-on with focus on research and practical experiments. The course is given in English. \nYou’ll get 4.5 university credits and university diploma from the Stockholm University of the Arts – something that might open doors that previously have been closed to you. \nTo apply you need at least 5 years of practical experience and submit a work sample\, 5-10 minutes performance on video (if possible; single camera\, unedited). Last date of application: April 15. \nThe pace will be intense\, and it will be exhausting\, and it will be insanely fun! \nEntry Requirements\nGeneral entry requirement for studies at the first cycle with the exception of Swedish 1\,2\,3 and English 6 and\nSpecific entry requirement \n\n7\,5 credits in circus or the equivalent\nAt least five years experience of magic on a high level\n\nSelection\nIf there are more eligable applicants than places there will be a selection. The Selection is based on the submitted documentation from eligible applicants. The performance of Magic is assessed according to FISM-standard\, minimum 50p (Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques). \nLanguage of Instruction\nEnglish is the main language of instruction. \nAim\nThe aim of the course is to give the studensts tools to ba able to\, individually and in a group\, develop and challange their knowledge in magic. \nCourse Content\nDuring the course the students work\, individually and in a group\, with different given themes. In lectures and seminars they will meet and discuss different ways of working with magic\, focusing on misdirection and non-linear methods both on a practical and a theoretical level. At the end of the course the students present one of their routines in magic that they have created during the course. \nTeaching methods\nThe course contains lectures\, seminars\, individual work and group work. \nIntended Learning Outcomes\nAfter completing the course the student is able to \n\ndiscuss and in practise work with misdirection and non-linear methods\nwork with the process of brain storming – visualisation – presentation in relation to a chosen theme\ndiscuss and elaborate with the use of neighbouring art forms in relationship to the practise of magic\n\nCourse Requirements\nThe student has to be present at least 80 % and participate in obligatory parts of the course like lectures\, seminars and workshops. If the student cannot participate in the obligatory parts of the course they can make a complementary assignment. The examiner\, course director and student will agree on the content of the assignment. \nExamination\nThe examination is carried out through a final practical presentation.\nIn case a student fails the ordinary examination\, the student has four more examination opportunities in order to pass the examination.\nIn special cases\, for example\, illness or injury\, some parts can be examined through a special assignment.
