Close-up for Parlour
April 4, 2020 @ 09:00 - April 5, 2020 @ 15:00 CEST 1900$
1900 kr
Kursen förutsätter generella förkunskaper. Om det blir internationella deltagare kommer workshopen presenteras på Engelska.
This 2 day workshop is conducted in English (unless all participants are Swedes).
Required prerequisite knowledge: General knowledge about conjuring and close-up.
Most of us begin our careers by performing close-up in strolling and table-hopping situations – that is, situations where we constantly have to adapt to the environment.
But now and then, we get asked for a tight parlor set… but how do we adapt our good strolling material so that it plays well for a larger group?
How do we play the room, when the audience is willing to adapt to the performer?
Or, we might decide to put together our strolling material into a competition act, and how do we ensure our skills from strolling pack the same punch when changing the venue?
Note: This workshop isn’t about sleight of hand skills, but about structure and ideas.
Learning objective
On completion of the workshop, the student should:
- Be able to identify and explore the differences between strolling close-up and parlour style close-up.
- Have a knowledge about dramatic tools to weave together disparate parts into a cohesive performance
- Be able to comfortably use misdirection in a parlor situation.
Instructor
Your instructor is the Swedish magician Tom Stone, recipient of the Creative Fellowship award 2015, and author of several books on innovative magic. Tom is well versed in the magic theory and the practical performance craft, and his teaching method is fun and enabling.
