Expectations & reality
When comparing my expectations beforehand with what the course actually consisted of… what was different and what was as I expected?
Comments
The course is well constructed and very interactive, which is beyond my expectation.
I did not expect the exercises would be so elaborate — having to create a performance piece in a short time frame. However, that was the most rewarding aspect of the workshop to me.
I expect something very solid. But turns out it is something i really need to digest. Its not a complain, that means those who work hard would benefits from the course. I feel like i need to work harder.
It exceeds my expectation actually. I have attended many workshops from different magicians. None of that can make me think satisfied like Tom’s workshop
Unexpected the workshop result was to enhance the skill of student rather than just teach a few magic effect. However, this surprise is very good and valuable to me.
I thought Tom might just teach some of his repertoire routines in depth. It turned out that he is teaching important theories that applies to all my magic as a whole! this is the workshops that magicians NEED. We have lots of nice tricks and routines nowadays. But we need to be equiped with real knowledge about the art. The sessions of brainstorming and taking actions immediately was unexpected. It was a fabulous experience!
Surprisingly accurate: I was expecting a very theatrical way of learning magic, ie a lot of hands on exercises, learning by doing, and a very Nordic approach to respecting student autonomy. It was exactly that yet still completely mind blowing.
