Hur mycket vi kan skapa om vi jobbar tillsammans.
It’s difficult to say. There were a lot of very good things both practical, theoretical and philosophical, as well as many good encounters and new colleagues and friends. But should I take out one thing, then it’s probably the importance of investigating magic further, and seeing magic as
an own art form, that has qualities that cannot be found within other art forms. Even though other art forms can help enhancing the magic experience, as well as vice verse, magic in it self has a core distinct to it. Because of this, it is important that magicians develop magic further, not only in relation to (and from the viewpoint and vocabulary and discourse of) other art forms, but also in and of it self. Where I for many years have tried to avoid working too much with magicians, to be inspired from other kinds of artists (and non-artists), this course (as was the case with Magi 1) has opened my eyes for the importance (and the benefits) of also having a good/strong group of magicians to work with as well. Both in developing new material/works, but also in developing magic as an art form/expression and visions to move it forward. (Where the tendency in the magic community in general is one of recreation, reproduction and in some ways stagnation. (The reason to this may be mainly because of a large part of magicians are amateurs and semiprofessionals as well as the fact, that there are no formal system to ‘higher’ education of magicians. Many learn from books, dvd’s and tricks that they buy, which means the ‘tricks’ that are easy to do/perform and give an certain kind of reactions, are popular on the market, which means that these creations are the main thing ‘pushed’/put out to magicians, and the main focus of inventors are on this one part of magic, that doesn’t at all help the
magic evolve.))
I have a new act to develop further, and as I answered before I really got a new understanding of my own creativity and how to use it.
Time pressure is good and it is incredibly important to quickly construct a gimmick to test the trick.
Being able to apply misdirection and non-linear methods to my own work and to constantly strive to raise my artistic expression.
Working in groups go so much faster than doing it by yourself.
Everything is possible.
That im working better with a deadline.
That I am creative and that I can produce new inspiring material, something that I for quite a while has felt a lack of. The different exercises and lectures is something that I can always look back at during future work and use these to overcome current struggles with material.
