Learning Objectives
In the stated learning objectives, certain promises were made. It was stated that on completion of the workshop, the student should have improved specific skills and abilities, as well as having gained new knowledge:
• Be able to practice and apply misdirection, dramatic techniques and non-linear methods.
• Be able to confidently work with the brainstorming process in relation to any given theme.
• Be able to cogently discuss, research and experiment with colleagues in both magic and related artistic fields.
• Be able to use small tools to build props.
Was the actual content of the course relevant to these learning objectives?

Jag tycker kursen höll vad den lovade samtidigt som flera synergieffekter skapas med en grupp där prestige läggs åt sidan för gemenskap och delande av passionen till vår konst
I absolutely feel that i got what i expected and even some more. Learned a lot.
Objectives were to understand the tools available to magicians to create the effect for the audience. Communicated well and referenced back to throughout the lessons
I would appreciate more new/updated studies on magic theory/practice – I am sure that new things have happened within the year since the last course… or more advanced course for more advanced students, which would of course require more new/updated studies on magic theory/practice.
It was better than what I had expected. Good organization, variety of work and an amazing tutor.
Yes I feel like all the promises on the course that was given was a success and I also think that I got more out of the class than what was foes discussed.
The course contents were well thought out and presented in a way that was most effective to learning the subject matter.
Even better that I expect
Vi fick så mycket praktisk träning så att det är svårt att INTE lära sig sakerna på listan. Och trots att innehållet var på ytan detsamma som tidigare år så upplevde jag att saker strömlinjeformats och att jag fortfarande lärde mig massa nya saker!
I would give it a 9.7. All the objectives where meet except perhaps “-Be able to cogently discuss, research and experiment with colleagues in both magic and related artistic fields.” wan’t 100% meet. We did experiment through the exercises. Though I don’t know in what capacity we did research. We did do some discussion at the end of lessons where Tom asked us to share thoughts. However if the schedule time permits, and granted that might be hard, having homework to research and discuss what we learn more in depth could be interesting.
The content was definitely in line with the learning objectives.
I think all the magic theories and techniques were exceptional, the acting elements where extremely relevant. While the 3D printing was interesting, it was not set up in a way that was as practical as other elements in the workshop. In the workshop I think it would have been valuable to get more prop repair tips, those were soooooo helpful and I would have loved more of that.
Jag har lärt mig både nya tekniker och metoder samt nya sätt att applicera dem dessutom har jag lärt mig massor annat trots att jag gått 3-dagarskursen tidigare
Den enda lilla förbättringen man skulle kunna önska är en övning till, där vi skulle få lov att specifikt applicera några av Leifs tekniker, med ett specifikt tema på ett trick. De fantastiskt roliga teaterlektionerna blev nu mest “teori” även om de var väldigt hands on i sig själva.
I learned more than the stated objectives
The learning objectives were met, but as a bonus you also take part in all the participants collective experiences, and that is not in the objectives.
I believe that the objectives were met. Over the week together with the help of our tutor we gained confidence in executing all the techniques described in the learning outcomes. I felt the think-face could have been explored more in an individual exercise just to solidify that technique before moving onto more advanced ones. In doing the exercises immediately after discussing them we applied the techniques directly and thus I feel, absorbed and got a deeper understanding of how to apply them in the workshop but after also.
The course would have been “ok” with just the lecture + illustrations. However, it became so much better with the practical exercises that were done in a playful and non-prestigious way.
Ja, Tom Stone (huvudläraren) har ett pedagogiskt sätt att få oss (kursdeltagare) gå från teori och diskussioner runt varje ämne till att rent praktiskt implementera dessa verktyg i vårt egna arbete. Att på fem dagar matas med ny kunskap och att kunna omvandla det till verkliga byggstenar att gör våra egna uppträdande mer genuina och genomtänka är fantastiskt, det enda jag saknade var fler dagar.
Vi fick både en teoretisk blid av vad vårat mål var och också en illustration av hur det såg ut i verkligheten. Därefter fick vi arbeta fram ett eget exempel på det hela. Mycket ovanligt att få en helhetsbild på så kort tid!
I hoped that on the workshop I would start to think about magic in terms of what the user feels and experiences. To date, all my magic has been based on technicalities and whilst this often produced “good” routines, I was not overly satisfied with my performance style and entertainment value. The course gave me a toolbox and a few tools to start thinking about the construction of my routines.
Exceeded my expectations
Ja jag lärde mig en hel del nytt och blev påmind om saker som är bra och viktigt. När vi tillverkade saker var då jag lärde mig minst men tror att det var helt rätt för gruppen.
