Changes
What in the course is important to keep, and what is important to change?

I would like to mention two things but I would say both of them I suppose are the result of the lack of time and for a longer course they would probably not be a problem. I would have liked more particular feedback on the tasks, what was good and what was bad about the group of 3 presentations. Not in general for everyone but some particular feedback for each performance. Likewise for the exercises at the final presentation (although I did have to leave early the last day) I think if it was a longer course I would keep everything and more practice to most things. However, since it is a 5 day long intense course, I felt that most of the prop making was too long. I think it was an important part of the course to learn those abilities and the instructor was very good at teaching, skilled and helpful. That being said I think for me it would have been enough if he just explained the methods at the beginning of the two projects so we get an idea, but we do not execute the whole projects. We then would get the same theoretical knowledge but we spend much less time on the prop making. Of course it is better knowledge if we practice too, but my idea is that we get an idea of the prop making by the presentation and if we need exact details in the future we have an idea how to get to it and where to look for but we will need to check things anyway. I think if we spend only half a day with that I would have preferred to do further exercises instead in the other half of the day like the group of 3 tasks.
I think every single thing is important in the course. However it would be useful to extend the course for a longer period to let some more time to the things we learned to settle inside.
Id rather work on my magic than making a magic wand and a leather bag. Thats the only thing.
I would like some more focus on performing skills as well as magicians tools. The group exercises are essential and are my favourite part!
It’s important to think about what the goal is for the women in the group. It’s an issue all across the globe in our industry and it would be beneficial, I believe, to talk all of us about how we together can form an environment that we’re happy with.
I feel like the group exercises/brainstorming is the main core. That should stay as the main core. Since there is a long period of time between knowing who will attend and the actual course, we could all help assemble topics and suggest contributions.
Keep the tutor, important. Withe reference of changes, the space for the leather workshop, it was quite small.
I feel lite a shorter DIY of wand making would be good, most people where done before the day was done.
Sorry. Can’t think of any at the moment.
I’m very honest: Nothing change! Keep as it is! That was perfect!
Doing group exercises are the best! Change? I don’t know to be honest. Just keep the bonus events in variety!
Keep the exercises! They make the course. And keep them challenging. As for changes I’m not sure. But some post course homework, maybe to encourage further research into the principles could be fun.
It’s difficult to say if any thing should be changed since it felt like all was relevant. If there is one thing that it is perhaps not necessary to keep that would be the propmaking. Although it was very good and definitely something I appreciated it was not connected to the rest of the material. I do favour to keep it but not as much as all the other material, so everythin else is important to keep.
As I said before, I think we should receive more feedback, especially in the final exercise and do it again trying to improve it. I know it would take a lot of time so maybe the instructor could see one rehearsal of each one a couple of hours before the deadline. The prop-making was great but I think that spending one full day of four and a half on that is too much. In my opinion, the venue, the number of participants, and the contents are perfect for the course. I also enjoyed the extra lectures.
It’s important to keep the open discussions, the very practical and challenging tasks, and the familiar atmosphere. I would add more feedback on the tasks (from the instructors and from the group), and perhaps some more individual work for collective critique and brainstorming.
All the hands on creation elements are essential to the workshop for sure. I liked the leather work, but I think we could have spent less time on it.
Maybe add a couple more organized activities for the area for everyone to do in a group (canoeing, biking, walking etc). I think starting to develop final act from The beginning would help a bit more. Keep everything else.
The most important thing to keep is the connection between learning a skill/tool and directly after using it in a grouptask to present to the rest of the participants.
I’m not sure, exercises are great. I love the first day exercises it’s a perfect way in to this way of thinking. I did feel this time round that they was no time to catch you breath I’m not sure if this was better or not as I’m now used to working at this pace now. The course is serious but fun the fun needs to be kept in it. Challenging but fun that’s what this course is.
I missed acting class so I have no opinion about that. I think even more demonstrations/illustrations of important principals in magic would have been helpful, e.g the canceling part. The one ahead/behind was brilliant though so also moving vectors and crossing the gaze. Would have loved more such illustrations.
Keep: Excersises, classes about acting, points on creativity Change: No clue! Really!
Keep it as it is but add giving feedback and more challenges
Whilst I really enjoyed the prop making sessions, I think that they went on a bit long due to a bottleneck at certain pieces of equipment, such as the lathe. I would suggest that the prop making activities are conducted with equipment where everyone can work simultaneously
The format was perfect for me. I can’t think of a single thing I would change. But I’m certain that Tom will.
maybe some kind of pre-work and syllabus can be useful, and homework also instead of one week 10 days or 2 weeks
For me one craft session would have been enough
I think the course is perfect the way it is. I would not change a thing. It would be great to have more courses like that led by Tom. I would love to participate on more advanced courses in the future continuing the work we begun.
