Changes
What in the course is important to keep, and what is important to change?

Keep everything! There are some little think I would change. When Leif was teaching acting with text, would be great if it would be connected with magic trick presentation. Not a general lesson on how to speak and act but more focused on particular effect wich is involving talking.
Keep the format.
Maybe have some material people can read before the workshop so that we have more time to do exercises.
Also, maybe some online gatherings after so that we can continue to do exercises and help each other implement this into our everyday lives.
Keep it the way it is and ad more of that both in time and direction
The safe environment is one to keep. I think the challenging exercises are also keepers. The mix of magic and theater as well. Having two groups at the same was also good, nice to be able to hear and see what they were doing.
There are potential changes to the format, all with the pros and cons. One could be extending the period. Allowing more time could give some great benefits, collaborating, getting feedback, etc. On the other, that would also put strains time away from performing, from jobs, family, etc. A two weeks course could be great, but I’m actually very happy with the current format – for me personally.
You could add even more exercises because that’s the part where you really learn. I understand the time limit. I felt that there could have maybe been more events where the two groups would get together. That would have been fun!
I have mixed feelings on the womens event. I feel on one hand its a great safe space to build fellowship and camaraderie with my fellow ladies. However on the other hand I don’t know if it needs to be its own separate “event”. Maybe instead we do a ladies luncheon one day, where all the ladies can have lunch or dinner together and talk and share. But I don’t know if it needs to take an evening slot.
Creative exercises must be there. Fika must always be. The length and the price of the course I think was very good. For change: I would like to see maybe some ongoing process during the course. Maybe developing one trick, maybe an act with others to perform on the open stage, something like that.
Keep the positive atmosphere.
It would be nice to see more performances/examples rather that it being described. I liked it when we were shown the Slydini balls and hat routine and gave feedback why it was such a bad routine. Then proceeding how to improve the routine (or give an interpretation using the language we learned during the course).
Amodel completion
Mask work
I loved the exercise where we all, individually, performed a single, simple trick and Leif directed us to make the most out of this trick. This was s great one and made practical advice off of the theories and tips we’d learned before. (Of course much of that goes for the general exercises we did as well.)
Honestly, it’s too early for me to say. I wasn’t aware of anything during the course, or now, that I would recommend changing. It seems pretty straightforward and simple. Theory and application. That’s the course and as far as I can tell, all you need is 16 dedicated students to implement the content and you’re off! But I’m a simple man, I’d be curious to hear what other people think about it.
Jag tycker att allt så fantastiskt och jag vet inte om det hade varit bättre men det var roligt att träffa alla i båda grupperna. Kanske kunde man ha någon övning alla tillsammans lite tidigare än sista dagen?
It’s important to keep the intensity of the course. It added a special rhythm and pace m when you knew you have to be constantly active and participating. Only changes I can think about is more “workable” surfaces and rooms for the creation process.
The student centered, active learning needs to be kept.
I don’t know that anything is important to change, however I do think that one priority should be to try to lengthen the course to two weeks if possible. I know that there was discussion about how this is easier said than done. Two weeks would be excellent, though. For me, three weeks would be difficult do to financial opportunity loss and time away from family.
Keep: Short time limited team projects with recordings.
I would like to have back some propmaking or something in that category. It cold be as easy as doing a flap card or splitting cards to make cardgimmiks.
I wold also like to try to make something/some excercise by my self in the beginning of the week so one could compare it to groupwork.
I would like to get an assignment where we could work in small short development periods and get to test a performance and then do a retrospectiv of it and improve it and preform again and do another retrospective and then a final performance. Just to see how much we could improve in a short period of time. The performance dont have to be for the group, It could be something we record also if it feels to time consuming
It would also be good to get som tools how to brainstorm efficiently as we have short time to get our groupwork in place. Timeslots for things in the process and an example of how a brainstormingprocess is most efficient.
Would be great if at the beginning we can perform one thing from our current repertuar and in last day we will do that again but in that time we will try to applied all the things that we have learned
Keep: just about everything – do not lose “attention management”, “structure” and “vectors” and acting
Change: Maybe some more examples (in some cases)
keep everything, add some free space in between, add some building stuff (like tables, servantes etc.)
The course is reaally good, so it’s hard to say.
Thursday was really exciting, when we got to partner up and work on our own pre-existing routines. Maybe there could be a little bit of this every day?
Keep:
-the nice venue
-atleast 5 day duration
-theory in practise philosophy
-the good food
-FIKA breaks
-working in groupsChange
-longer course
-more directing of existing material
-more applying theater theory to magic
-more work throughout the week on one routine
I think you should keep everything the way it is. The most important is working in teams, the team exercises, to be able to try out the techniques we learned instantly.
What I can feel its close to perfect
