Course Design
The planning of the course (lessons, extra lectures, workshops, your own time) was relevant to the stated contents of the course.
1: I do not agree at all / 10: I agree completely

Although it was a very intensive course, I enjoyed it a lot.
Yes the agenda was well paned and the venue really made it even better with the food / service and the staff
None of the sessions seemed too long. First when I looked at the schedule I thought “wow, lots of coffee breaks”. Turns out they were necessary to learn things better. In most of the magic conventions there are just a lecture after a lecture after a show and so on. No matter how interesting the subject is or how big of a fanboy I am of the lecturer, too much is just too much. In Sigtuna I could easily focus on all the subjects!
Yes, I felt there was a nice balance and structure to the course. You could have your own personal time if needed, or their was usually always someone up to brainstorm, talk magic with and share. The schedule flowed nicely and Fika was wonderful.
It gave me enough time to work on it on my own, brainstorm with others, and to rehearse and then showcase it to others.
Very much so. I loved the evenings where we got to explore others work. It’s not easy sharing what you do with others in our field. But each evening we got to get a little inside look at several performers work on the course. Håkan, Ondrej, the women’s evening.
It is exhausting but I think as we only have five days it’s great that it’s filled to the brim with activities. The constant creativity is great for us performers and a childlike reminder of what real magic is and how it feels when your surround by it/people/the venue and location.
Certainly the lessons and the workshops (by workshops I assume we mean exercises during class) were relevant.
The extra lectures were peripherally related, as they were about magic, although not tied specifically to the course contents in terms of theory or application. However, as extra lectures, they were appropriate, and one of the planned lectures had to be substituted at the last minute, so being only “peripherally related” is understandable. Also, it could be pointed out that an additional extra lecture was “women only,” so my comments are limited to 2 out of 3 extra lectures.
Pretty much! The only thing missing might be the time for creating and building new equipment and gimmicks using tools. But as I understand this is something that usually is part of the course, and that will also be brought back again, which is great!
The course was very well planned. I rate this high, though I believe there could be minor improvement with the theatrical instruction in helping the student to see more direct connections between lessons and how they may be applied to our performances in practice.
Yes, I agree
It was intense and I was all worn out after dinner.
It was good the classes after dinner was not mandatory
On Wednesday afternoon, my brain felt mushy. It was such a lot to digest and I had problems to stay focused. I wouldn’t say that the planning was not optimal, but I wished I had a bit more time in the first 2.5 days to clear my mind and refocus. I think it would be nice, if the course would be expanded to at least one more day. Maybe there could be an external activity on Wednesday, away from the school. Maybe we could attend a play or have a group exercise for street magic or something that would take us out of the normal context. Also I would have loved to build something – like they did on an earlier course with the magic wands.
Great planning!
I felt there was just enough, not too little, or too much. Fika breaks were helpful. I love structure so I felt I was in heaven when food, activities, etc. had been planned for me. I gave it an 8 and not a 10 because would have wanted more days!
