Workload
The workload and study pace during the course was reasonable.
1: I do not agree at all / 10: I agree completely

I thought it was the perfect balance of break and work. We learned so many new concepts, but they all intertwined with an each other, and it was not too overwhelming to grasp all the information. I thought it was very reasonable, and everything we learned in the course made sense and connected, which I noticed and appreciated.
Ja bra, som jag skrev tidigare, jag gillar högt tempo.
100%. The pace was not too fast and there were enough breaks.
I felt that the course was very challenging and demanding, but we were told this beforehand and it made the most important point come across: We are capable of working under pressure and the pressure (deadlines etc.) can significantly increase our productivity even in artistic fields when used correctly. For the week, this was ok but I doubt I wouldn’t have been able to maintain my focus if the course was much longer. For this course length, however, I felt that it was DEMANDING ENOUGH, rather than “too demanding”.
More time to practice, experiment, iterate and receive feedback would have been helpful. This is especially true regarding misdirection classes. See my comments on the first question.
As an Instructor of Adults, I tend to believe that giving students more homework than they can complete, goes hand in hand with encouraging them to reach beyond their comfort zone.
With that in mind, I think this class could use a little more defined homework. In this digital age, handouts and paper cheat sheets are becoming fewer and fewer. I believe that a few of these, during this class, would prove beneficial in cementing some of the concepts. Taking notes was difficult because of the speed of the presentation. Having a cheat sheet on the lecture would encourage focusing on the lecture rather than trying to capture it in notes.
All in all, the work load was most acceptable, if not a little light.
I’m not sure how to answer this. Do I think 20-40 mins to work with people you have never worked with before and come up with a routine and script, etc is enough time for a Type A person, no? Was that the point? Probably. I think the pace was good…I think the fika breaks gave us time to talk and reflect and didnt overload our brains. I also liked the break we had before dinner.
Day 1 I was more like a rabbit caught in headlights as I thought that the calibre of my fellow Magicians outstripped my own, by day 2 I felt more relaxed and realised that they too had come here to learn and that this course brought something for everyone. The pace was made easier by the use of the many Fika breaks
I maybe would have liked a name tag on people as trying to remember information about the course and peoples names on the first day was hard.
There was a lot to learn. Even more than at a normal school. Which i much appreciate
As the course was rather long, I felt that the workload for the course was rather good. We didn’t get exhausted midway even though we learned and applied many new concepts.
Yes, fika helps reset the brain and then back to work!
As i said prevously I think I would have liked more time for practise to adapt the concepts we explored.
The pace was just right. There was enough time every day to learn multiple concepts, emphasize those concepts, and discuss those concepts with peers.
I just wished we had maybe more lessons to go over more things.
I wished there was more time to cover certain things. Of course, there is a time limit, but I would have been interested in focusing on the thories of angles and also being real on stage for much longer. The variety helped staying on track but focusing more on a few things rather than discussing as many as we did, would have been better for my learning experience. Don’t get me wrong though, leaving a lot to understand on my own is definitely a good thing.
Agree. I liked that now course was 6 days instead of 5, as we also had time for documentation. A day with Tim was also great in the middle of the week, we got little break of Leif´s and Tom´s exercises
I enjoyed the intensity of it. Any slower would be dull, any quicker would be exhausting.
It was really reasonable! I propably could have done more.
I felt we came up with better “stuff” in the first course. I don’t know why, if we missed some main pointers, or if too many different objectives were crammed into the exercises. Fika, breaks and overall schedule was fine I believe.
I liked the pace a lot. Breaks and free time. Didn’t need to wake too early. Had good night rest every night and that way I had enough physical and mental strength to stay focused thru out the whole week.
Last year I had a mid-week overload experience. With the “day off” for the propmaking class this did not happen this year. And even though the challenges were harder than last year, I felt it was less theory than in Conjuring A. For me, the workload and study pace in Conjuring B was very reasonable.
We cover a lot, but somehow we’re able to manage it (mostly!). We are capable of more than we think.
There was enough time to work on the assignments during the course. Not too much, not too little.
This year this was so much better than last year! I had time to reflect what I learned, sleep more and was all in all more energetic during the exercises.
Absolut, förutom att min energi inte räcker till att göra en kvälls workshop. Men då är jag också lite tant 😃 ska ej betyda att det inte är en bra ide!
I wish it had lasted 3 weeks 🙂
It is as always a high workload. Nice to have a day of propmaking to clear ones head.
could have been even more
I think this year the 90 minute sessions really worked. They felt just right timing wise. And by the end of the session we were ready for the break. It didn’t feel too long just perfect!
I was ill the week before I arrived, so I had a lower energy level than usual. This meant I couldn’t participate in all the optional workshops and social activities I wanted to. I hope to have the opportunity to partake in these later on.”
For me it looked good. Many more time to work on the thing you are going to show on the last day.
I felt like that we could benefit more if we would have got a little bit more time wit Tom and Leif. The course was great this way as well and I completely understand that they had to spend more time with groups A and B, but especially on Monday and Friday, it would have been great to have a session with Tom or Leif.
Personligen har jag stött behov av egentid och reflektion efter en dag och det fanns det utrymme för och så fort jag ville så fanns det full aktivitet i olika delar av huset.
It was a good tempo to get things done but Reflexion had to come later because there was a lot of things happening. I do not think it is possible to include the necessary time to digest the exercises and the learning. I think that the work load is what is to be expected.
