Workload
The workload and study pace during the course was reasonable.
1: I do not agree at all / 10: I agree completely

Yes! Had problems to sleep well: I dreamed about all what I have learned and experienced in English Language. Woke up early. But no problem then I was running along the lake and had a quick bath in it. Less would be not enough!
I think work/freetime balance was really good. Meals and fikas gave breaks in perfect time and perfect amount. And 5pm-6pm time to do documentation was really good for learning and or resting. Perhaps one more evening without extra event could be good idea.
Overall I think the workload was sufficient. For me the Idea of retreat is to really submerge your self in to the matter under discussion and clear away all distractions. And that was achieved really well in Sigtuna.
The study pace of the course suited me even better than schooling I have had in the past , the frequent breaks really allowed my mind to face each problem fresh and remember the material much better.
I thought the workload was good.
The pace of the course was intense and challenging, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. I had set aside a week for this course and wanted to get as much out of it as possible.
Reasonable and always interesting.
There is a lot of of workload. It couldn’t be other way. As happens in magic gatherings, conventions and the like, what is missing is sleep. As I said before, I would like to have more days.
The workload and pace of the course were intense but ultimately manageable. Like I said earlier – I did not watch one minute of TV or streaming services during the entire week. This fact alone speaks volumes about how fully the course occupied our time and attention!
The amount of new information presented was staggering. There was so much to learn and absorb that it will likely take a considerable amount of time to fully process everything we were taught. However, we were fortunate to have a whole week dedicated to learning and practicing, which allowed us to immerse ourselves fully in the material without feeling overwhelmed.
The pacing was thoughtfully arranged, with lectures interspersed with breaks (fika) and practical sessions. This structure helped to prevent information overload and allowed for periods of reflection and practice between new concepts.
While the schedule was undeniably full and demanding, it felt appropriate for the nature of the course. The intensity of the workload contributed to the immersive experience, fostering a focused learning environment where we could dedicate ourselves entirely to improving our craft.
In retrospect, although the pace was brisk and the workload substantial, it was this very intensity that made the course so effective and memorable. The challenge of keeping up with the pace was part of what made the experience so rewarding, pushing us to grow and improve rapidly within the span of a week.
A difficult question, because one part of me wanted even more on the schedule, but another part of me also understands that sometimes “less is more”, and the brain needs recovery. For 6 or 7 days, it works well, but if the course had been longer, a morning of sleep would not have been wrong.
I personally could have gone with a fika or two less, and an extra 90 minutes of course material. I was so in a mood to learn that I just kept wanting more time to do so. Either an extra 90 minutes a day, or an extra week! Make the course 10-14 days long! I want more!
I agree, though I don’t give 10 because I felt there could have been more time for personal activities of some sort like running, walking, etc., reading… but that was not an intention of the course. I had to make that extra space for these activities by waking up earlier which is totally fine. Study pace in terms of those lessons was sometimes quick, but just quick enough to make the course move as much as forward as possible in limited time frame of the course week.
Yes, it was reasonable. It was fast paced, very intense and well planned. Having a written syllabus, such as the document “Conjuring Workshop 2022” would have been helpful in capturing definitions and examples during the lesson. The after-class documentation session would be a good time to expand our notes and solidify the concepts.
It was a little heavy some evenings, with classes to 9 pm.
An intensive course is an intensive course. 🙂 I don’t think we need more program.
MORE WORK, less fika! 😉
It was quite intensive, but just enough to get me out of the comfort zone and give me a glimpse of all the hidden potential. I was prepared to a considerable workload based on the previous year and the workload was quite close to what I had expected.
Too slow
The 90 minutes units never felt long and in some units it was all over too soon.
Yes. Related to this, getting enough sleep is important or even vital to be able to have the energy for the work pace. It is difficult, I feel, to leave friends in the evening to go to bed. It is something I will work on for future courses.
I would say yes during the day but some of the extra events may have been too much after all the new info I gained during the day. I would wish there were more time to go to the city for example. A guided tour would be a fun addition, maybe by Anders Modén? 😉
Yep. I do love the hard work and the use of the time. I must however say that the lectures in the evening required me to stand up not to fall asleep. But I wouldn’t want to miss it.
Yes, it was not too fast. The workload was decent.
I think the workload in the first course seemed the most significant, and the reason for this was the novelty. But I feel that the workload actually was the same across all three courses, but since the novelty was no longer a significant factor in the third course, I didn’t feel the workload was as heavy. Perhaps this is why I would make the first day a bit more active. I believe it would be beneficial to include 1-2 exercises alongside the TED Talks there as well. I know that we could have organized it for ourselves, but by the time we realised that “we are on our own”, we just reached the end of the day.
